CAMHS stands for 'Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services'.
Portsmouth CAMHS-LD provides assessment and treatment for a range of difficulties including challenging behaviour, mental health problems including anxiety, depression and psychiatric illness, difficulties associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, self-injurious behaviour, sexually harmful behaviour, complex eating, sleeping and toileting problems, and other areas where learning disability has a major impact on the child’s behaviour and wellbeing.
CAMHS-LD provides the Triple P ‘Stepping Stones’ group programme in partnership with Portsmouth City Council.
In the first instance it is advisable to speak to your GP, health visitor or other professional. They can then refer your child to CAMHS if it is thought necessary.
