Wheelchair Services

What mobility equipment are you entitled to?

NHS wheelchair services offer assessments to determine what type of wheelchair or mobility equipment you may be entitled to on the NHS. In general, wheelchair services are available to people of all ages who have a long-term need for mobility help.

We are often asked if families are able to access a buggy or wheelchair through wheelchair services to help keep the child safe whilst out and about. The first step is to speak to your child’s GP or occupational therapist/physiotherapist, to discuss whether your child meets the criteria for wheel chair services.

If they don’t, there may be a charity able to help with funding towards costs.
